Application Process and FAQs for Students and Recent Graduates
Thanks for your interest in working with us! We’re always looking for candidates for Voyage, our leadership development program. Be sure you review Learn About Marriott and Marriott Facts to learn more about our company.
Interviews. We visit many universities during the year to recruit candidates for internship opportunities. See our recruitment schedule to learn if and when we’re coming to your university. We select potential candidates who have completed our online application process and invite these candidates to interview with our recruiting team. If we are not scheduled to come to your university during the recruiting season, these interviews may be conducted over the phone.
Next Steps. A member of our recruiting team will notify you of your status and next steps within two weeks of the interview. Based on timing of the interview process, actual offer and placement may not occur until six to eight weeks prior to the start of your internship.
Please see Students and Graduates to learn more about the program and apply online. If you are a qualified applicant you will receive an email inviting you to the next stage of the process, which varies region by region and may include:
Group interviews and/or personal interviews
See FAQs for information about the timeline for Voyage applications and selection in your geographic region.
Be a professional. Arrive early. Double-check the time, date and location of your interview. Dress and act like you’re ready to be part of a business environment.
Be a leader. Share examples from your life that you feel could apply in a business setting.
Be a problem solver. Think through ways you have worked through a challenge on a project or in a volunteer setting. How did you prioritize and connect with people to get the project complete? How did you overcome hurdles? What did you do to accomplish your goals?
Be a people person. How have you helped build relationships? Are you particularly good at working with others even when they have differing opinions? Make sure to have a few examples you can speak to.
Ask smart questions. Show your enthusiasm and your commitment to finding a good fit. Bring questions you have about the position, the program, or a specific brand or area of the business you would like to know more about.
Our Voyage Global Leadership Development Program is offered in more than 30 countries around the world for recent university graduates and offers a combination of practical hands-on experience and leadership training. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have gained the confidence and skillset needed to embark on a successful career with Marriott International.
Voyage is a self-based 12-18 month program. Timing can depend on the discipline and country you are working in. The program is designed to prepare participants for an entry-level management role after successful completion of the program. You’ll work with your Champion and Coach to find the right position for you.
To participate in Voyage, permanent work authorization for that country is required. We do not provide work authorizations so please be sure you have authorization before you apply. The process is different in the Middle East and Africa – you should work with local authorities to acquire appropriate permits to work in a particular country. Our interviewers will be able to provide you with information on the right to work in any particular country during the screening process.
We do require permanent work authorization for the country in which you're interested. We'd recommend applying where you have work authorization. Once you've completed the program and are part of Marriott's network, it can become easier to pursue transfer opportunities within. If you are a student or recent graduate interested in working in the U.S., you may want to consider J-1 opportunities instead of Voyage.
The hotel simulator is an online virtual gaming experience that allows Voyagers to test their knowledge of the hospitality program by making life like management decisions managing a virtual hotel. Voyagers will also compete globally through the simulator.
First, submit your application online. If selected, you’ll receive an email inviting you to the next stage of the process, which varies by geography and includes an online assessment, group interviews and/or personal interviews.
Please connect with us on Facebook! We have more than 30 HR professionals (some Voyagers included!) who are there to answer your questions about working at Marriott, the Voyage program, and any other questions you may have.
