Our Application Process

Wondering what to expect when you apply for our Voyage Global Leadership Development Program or a Marriott internship? Here’s how the process generally works for each application:

Marriott internships

  1. Application. Please visit Students and Recent Graduates and follow the directions for applying online.
  2. Interviews. We visit many universities during the year to recruit candidates for internship opportunities. See our recruitment schedule to learn if and when we’re coming to your university. We select potential candidates who have completed our online application process and invite these candidates to interview with our recruiting team. If we are not scheduled to come to your university during the recruiting season, these interviews may be conducted over the phone.
  3. Next Steps. A member of our recruiting team will notify you of your status and next steps within two weeks of the interview. Based on timing of the interview process, actual offer and placement may not occur until six to eight weeks prior to the start of your internship.

Voyage program applications

Please see Students and Graduates to learn more about the program and apply online. If you are a qualified applicant you will receive an email inviting you to the next stage of the process, which varies region by region and may include:

  • Online assessment
  • Group interviews and/or personal interviews
  • Final interviews

See FAQs for information about the timeline for Voyage applications and selection in your geographic region.

Top 5 ways to shine at your interview

  1. Be a professional. Arrive early. Double-check the time, date and location of your interview. Dress and act like you’re ready to be part of a business environment.
  2. Be a leader. Share examples from your life that you feel could apply in a business setting.
  3. Be a problem solver. Think through ways you have worked through a challenge on a project or in a volunteer setting. How did you prioritize and connect with people to get the project complete? How did you overcome hurdles? What did you do to accomplish your goals?
  4. Be a people person. How have you helped build relationships? Are you particularly good at working with others even when they have differing opinions? Make sure to have a few examples you can speak to.
  5. Ask smart questions. Show your enthusiasm and your commitment to finding a good fit. Bring questions you have about the position, the program, or a specific brand or area of the business you would like to know more about.
