Application and Assessment
The second step in the selection process is to apply for the position online and, if required, take an online assessment designed to evaluate your skills for the position to which you are applying:
- For non-management candidates, you will complete an online application and if you meet the minimum requirements for the position, you may be asked to take an online. assessment. The assessment must be completed by the candidate applying for that position.
- For management candidates, you will complete an online application, and then will receive communication from one of our team members. If invited to continue in the process, the next step may be an online assessment or a screening interview with a recruiter. The assessment must be completed by the candidate applying for that position.
Candidates for non-management positions should:
- Ensure you have computer access in a quiet location where you can concentrate. Expect to spend between 40 to 60 minutes going through the combined application and assessment process online.
- Take your time completing the initial application questions and make sure you pay attention to the prompts for taking an assessment. Note that you may not have to complete an assessment if you already have a recent assessment on file with Marriott. Your application will not be considered “submitted” until both the application details and assessment (if needed) have been completed.
- Select the language you know best before taking the assessment.
- Read each question carefully before choosing your answer.
- Choose an answer on your own you feel is best.
- Watch the clock during the assessment to ensure you complete it in a timely manner.
Candidates for management positions should:
- Ensure you have computer access in a quiet location where you can concentrate.
- Take your time completing the initial application questions.
- If invited to take an assessment, the invitation will come through the email account you provide in the application process. Once you receive the invitation, you will have three (3) days to complete the assessment.
- If taking the assessment outside of the United States (U.S.) you will have the option to choose from multiple languages to complete the assessment. Select the language you know best.
- Read each question carefully before choosing your answer.
- Choose an answer on your own you feel is best.
- Monitor your time during the assessment to ensure you complete it within the given time. Expect to spend between 30 to 50 minutes taking the assessment. The assessment for senior property positions will take approximately 90 minutes.

Interview
The third step in the selection process is to participate in interviews. The specific number and type of interviews vary from position to position. If you advance to this step, you will be guided through each step of the process by a member of our team.
Additional Information
As you prepare for your interview with Marriott:
- Review all of the sections of our Careers and Corporate sites to learn about our company.
- Take time to research our company; search online or visit our Newsroom to read news and updates about Marriott.
- Dress professionally; working at Marriott requires a flawless professional appearance.
- If your interview is over the phone, make sure you have verified the phone number and time and have a clear phone connection.
- If your interview is in person, ask for directions to the location and arrange your transportation to the interview; plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of time.
- Ensure you have reviewed the job posting and description and fully understand the requirements of the job.
- Have examples of your past experiences that demonstrate your talents ready to share with your interviewer. You can share examples from school, past jobs, volunteer or other experiences.
- Use your research about the company and the interview to determine if Marriott is the place for you; think about what questions you may have about the position, the specific brand or location of the job, and the company.

Offer
The last step in the selection process is to receive an offer to work for Marriott. If you receive an offer, you will be contacted by the location offering you a position. They will provide you with the details of the offer, ask you to complete some pre-hire paperwork and activities, and confirm your start date. Note that as part of your pre-hire requirements you may be asked to participate in a drug test and background and reference check processes.
If you receive an offer to begin your career journey with Marriott:
- Make sure you understand all of the details of the offer and the next steps.
- Ask questions to ensure you understand what would be expected of you on the job and what your schedule will be.
- Think carefully about whether Marriott is the right place for you; you will be asked to work hard and demonstrate a passion for service, but in return will be provided with numerous opportunities.
