You’ve always wanted to be in the game.

 

At High Velocity the coach may not call you out of the stands (the way he does in your dreams), but the 120-foot wrap-around screen, scrolling scoreboard, and wall of high-def TVs will put you in the center of the action.

 

But don’t expect stadium food. Yeah, the menu’s got onion rings. And wings. And burgers. But the onion rings are hand-cut Texas sweets battered with Shiner Bock. The wings get basted with chili de arbol and habaneros until they “hum,” “sing” or “scream.” And the burgers are hand-shaped from fresh Angus sirloin.

 

“We emphasize freshness and home made,” says executive chef Ryan Littman. “We make everything – chicken fingers, tortilla chips, even the bread for croutons – it’s all from scratch.”
And what ball park has two dozen beers on tap? A local brew like citrusy Firemans #4 from Blanco’s Real Ale Brewing Company was made for washing down Texas-style chili loaded with jalapenos and local “redneck cheddar.” A crisp Alamo Golden Ale adds the perfect finish to the Miami Press, a Cuban sandwich layered with fresh roasted pork loin, pickles and melted cheese.

 

“It’s not glamorous,” Chef Littman says. “It’s just good food that’s fresh and high quality. We get the music going loud or crank up one of the games. It’s great fun.”
