History of Grosvenor House

BOOK THIS HOTEL

A New Chapter

Chairman and CEO of Marriott International, J.W. Marriott Jr said, “Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel has always been a star on London’s hotel scene and now, thanks to this outstanding restoration, that star is shining brighter than ever."

New Ownership

Between 1996 and 2004, Grosvenor House passed through the hands of no fewer than six owners. In 2004, Mr. Marriott completed a long-term ambition – Marriott International finally acquired the ‘Grande Dame of Park Lane’. Shortly after, the company commenced plans to rebrand Grosvenor House as a JW Marriott Hotel. The vision had been to retain all that was best of the Grosvenor tradition and incorporate the style and expertise of the JW Marriott brand. Thus, the quintessentially British ‘heart’ was not only protected but enhanced.

On the 9th September 2008, the JW Marriott flag was proudly unfurled over Park Lane for the first time to mark the completion of the restoration and the opening of Grosvenor House as a JW Marriott Hotel.

In Recent Years

Bill Marriott, Chairman and CEO of Marriott International, arrived at the hotel with his wife, Donna, in April 2009 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the hotel.

In 2010, Grosvenor House saw two new additions, a new, spacious and modern fitness suite along with the JW Steakhouse offering tender hand-cut selections of dry-aged American USDA prime beef.

Until this day, Grosvenor House continues to play host to various prestigious public and private events and social occasions, including Gala dinners, annual company dinner dances and Christmas parties.
