Joshua Tree National Park

Just an hour’s drive from the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel, plan a daytrip to see Joshua Tree National Park where you have many opportunities to explore. Experience a fascinating variety of plants and animals in a park shaped by strong winds, unpredictable rain and climatic extremes.

 

There are 12 self-guiding nature trails for visitors, and from October through May, you can reserve a spot on the popular Keys Ranch Guided Walking Tour. Or, see the park from the seat of your mountain bike, offering an extensive network of dirt roads. Joshua Tree is also a popular rock-climbing area; and the ark is also home to approximately 250 bighorn sheep.

San Jacinto State Park

The San Jacinto Mountain range is a magical place for Palm Springs hiking. Here, you can enjoy the feeling of hiking in Switzerland while gazing down at the Sahara.

 

This 13,000-acre park offers over 50 miles of trails in the mountains soaring above the Sonora desert. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway makes it easy for hikers to enter Mount San Jacinto State Park, or you can begin at the mountain’s base. Enjoy cool breezes on the mountain that John Muir described as, “The view from San Jacinto is the most sublime spectacle to be found anywhere on this earth!”

Celebrated Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs is home to over 525 shops, offering delightful Palm Spring shopping, strolling and dining by day or night. Winter Excursions

Celebrate the winter season at the San Jacinto Mountains, the place where snowball fights with family and friends are prone to occur! Snowshoes can be rented at the Aerial Tramway’s Adventure Center for only $18 per day. Please note, visitors who leave the Long Valley area on snowshoes must obtain a permit from the Long Valley Ranger Station

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

Hop aboard the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and experience a breathtaking journey to 8,500 feet, where adventure seekers can hike and dine in the scenic beauty of the San Jacinto Mountains. Within the Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area, there are 54 miles of hiking trails that range from a 5 1/2 mile trek to the peak of Mt. San Jacinto to the just over 1 mile nature walk.

 

For 20 minutes, ride the world’s largest rotating tramcar to the top of the mountain, full of great Palm Springs hiking! You’ll also find a restaurant, gift shop and snack bar for your convenience.
