Executive Chef Bill Rounds
With more than 22 years of experience as a chef at Marriott International, Executive Chef Bill Rounds has an incomparable range and most importantly, a passion for food. A graduate of SUNY Delhi in Delhi, New York, Chef Rounds began his career with Marriott in Houston, Texas. From there, he expanded his experience—and knowledge of different cuisines—working at the New Orleans, Tulsa Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City Marriott Hotels.
Chef Rounds may have a soft spot for Cajun cooking, but his expertise ranges from sushi to fresh fish preparation. His understanding of flavors and cuisines is on constant display at Currents, and special events. One of his favorite events to prepare for is the WGBY Channel 57’s Annual Wine Tasting Dinner, for which he designs menu items to pair with different wines that are offered for each course. “What makes the menu interesting is that there are two wines offered with each menu item…the wines can be complimentary or contrasting, it is all personal preference.” For the event, Chef Rounds has prepared everything from Buffalo Wings to Lobster Purses.
A true epicure, Chef Rounds believes that “Food is not just about slicing and dicing…it is the fine seasoning, quality of product, and the eye appeal of the plate presentation.”
