Raquel Romero – Executive Chef

Born in northern Illinois, raised in Southern Indiana, Executive Chef Raquel Romero has grown up surrounded by culinary influence. Home cooked meals with a large family and friends, and being surrounded by people that enjoyed food and the comfort that it brought, encouraged Raquel to pursue the life of a Chef. At 14 years old, Raquel began her professional career in a small bowling alley working through the summer. From there she moved through multiple corporate restaurants until, at 18 years old, she accepted a Banquet Cook position at the historic AAA, 4-Diamond Seelbach Hilton Hotel, in Louisville, Kentucky. She trained at the Seelbach for 5 years, moving through positions and learning new skills with each department while training under driven and talented superiors such as Chef Matt Durham and Chef Bobby Benjamin. Occasional stints in the prestigious AAA 5-Diamond Oakroom, Banquet and finally Garde Manger Supervisor, shaped her to move on with the Interstate Hotels management company to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was promoted to Executive Sous Chef of the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Hotel and Convention Center. Massive events were this property’s specialty and she was able to strengthen her management experience through this two year experience. Family brought her back to the Bluegrass State, where she joined the local Al J. Schneider Company at the Galt House Hotel as the Garde Manger Sous Chef. In 2013 Raquel joined the Marriott Louisville East and Charr’d Bourbon Kitchen and Lounge as the Executive Sous Chef. Evolving into her role she worked along with the team to grow with this new bourbon-themed property. Spending one year training under Chef Laurent Geroli, set her up for ultimate success, and in June 2017 Raquel was promoted to Executive Chef.
