Charlottesville

Charlottesville is an historic city in the state of Virginia. One of the top things to do in Charlottesville is to pay a visit to two residences of former United States presidents who called this city home. First, head to the Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, his home and plantation grounds. Next, explore James Monroe’s Highland, today also a museum open for visitors. Another popular Charlottesville attraction is the University of Virginia Campus. This beautiful property makes for a lovely stroll and also offers plenty of learning opportunities at the Fralin Museum of Art and the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection. Other museums in Charlottesville include the Virginia Discovery Museum, the Les Yeux du Monde art gallery, that showcases contemporary art, and the McGuffey Art Center. The surrounding area is also popular with visitors, as guests at Charlottesville hotels can drive along the 105-mile Skyline Drive through the stunning Shenandoah National Park. Alternatively, you can go hiking, cycling, trekking, and camping here as well. In the evening, one of the best places to dine and unwind is the Historic Downtown Mall. This is a pedestrian district on Main Street with a lovely atmosphere and top restaurants, shops, and bars.
