Known in China as “Paradise on Earth,” Hangzhou’s most famous attraction is beautiful West Lake; the city also offers temples, pagodas, museums and shopping to guests staying at our hotels in Hangzhou.
Spend a day at West Lake, only a short trip from your accommodations in Hangzhou; grab a hop-on-hop-off passenger boat and explore the gardens and pavilions on each of the Lake’s islands. You can gaze into the depths of the Red Carp Pond, or hang around for an evening performance of Impression West Lake, dramatically acted out on a stage barely submerged below the lake’s surface.
Nearby Ling Yin Temple offers a picturesque view of Buddhist culture; not far from our Hangzhou hotels, climb Solitary Hill for stunning views of West Lake, or ride the escalators to the base of Leifeng Pagoda, constructed over a thousand years ago.
Visitors can learn about traditional Chinese products at the National Silk Museum, the National Tea Museum and the Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shop for the city’s two most famous exports, silk and Longjing tea, on historic Qinghefeng Street, and watch vendors hand-roasting local teas. And a trip to Meijawu, a tea-producing village near Hangzhou, is perfect for a relaxing pastoral afternoon.
