Founded almost 1,600 years ago, Pune is known as the "Oxford of the East" and home to several major Indian universities. But this is certainly no college town: the upscale community of Pune offers our hotel’s guests a full cultural experience with varied attractions, boutiques and restaurants.
You can visit the Katraj Snake Park, home to over 160 reptile species, or the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, filled with artifacts that are up to 2,000 years old. Climb the steep steps leading to the Parvati Hill temples, the site of an art and history museum and some of the city’s best views. Also, don't miss the Aga Khan Palace, temporary home of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife.
Tour the many art galleries, convenient to our downtown Pune accommodations or see the Fire Temple, where a ceremonial fire has burned for more than a century and a half. For more adventuresome fun, go paragliding at Kamshet and hike the many nearby tekdi, or hills. The nearby Pataleshwar Cave Temple, built in the 8th century, is another sight to behold.
Eateries––both native and international––are abundant in Pune, but hotel guests will find the most authentic local flavors at Koregaon Park, J.M. Road, Shivaji Nagar and Laxmi Road.
