San Juan, Puerto Rico’s capital city, is known as “La Ciudad Amurallada,” or “The Walled City”––and for good reason! San Juan was founded almost 500 years ago by Ponce de Leon, and many of the Spanish fortifications built to protect San Juan still remain. Other must-see historical locations are the San Juan Museum of Art and History, and the Casa del Libro (or “House of the Book,) a museum of almost 5,000 rare texts, some more han 600 years old.
The city’s Spanish influences are also evident in the many shops, restaurants and espresso cafes you can explore from your accommodations. San Juan is a beautiful Caribbean island, which means that diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking and jet skiing opportunities are easily accessed from your hotel. And, the San Juan average annual temperature is around 80 degrees F, making it one of the most appealing destinations in the Atlantic.
