San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts
Opening its doors in 1999, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is not only known for what's inside the building, but what's on the outside as well. Resembling a covered wagon, the SAMFA building is host to more than 300 programs a year, including a chamber music concert series, and the National Ceramic Competition. San Angelo Visitor's Center
Home to San Angelo's Chamber of Commerce and the San Angelo Health Foundation, the Visitor's Center is a great place to stop by to learn more about what the city has to offer. The Center is located on the Concho River and was beautifully constructed using Texas elements like mesquite wood and stone from local quarries. Of the three lakes in San Angelo, Lake Nasworthy is the most popular and is a great place for boating, camping, and fishing. Lake Nasworthy is also host to the annual speedboat competition known as Showdown in San Angelo, when thousands of spectators flock to watch boats reach speeds of up to 250 miles per hour. Pearl of the Conchos
The Pearl of the Concho is just one reason to visit downtown San Angelo. Concho Christmas Tour of Lights
Established as a small downtown display of lights in 1995, the annual Concho Christmas Tour of Lights now includes over three million twinkling bulbs along the river bank. The self-driven 2.5 mile tour, beginning the first Friday night in December, includes displays of The Twelve Days of Christmas, and the illuminated Tunnel if Lights. Miss Hattie's Historic Bordello Café & Saloon
Closed down by the Texas Rangers in 1952, Miss Hattie's was a place a gentleman could find some company. Since turning off the red light, this infamous bordello has been restored into a museum with a café and saloon next door. Historic Fort Concho
Founded in 1867, this restored frontier outpost is the why San Angelo exists today. Boasting a total of twenty-three restored buildings, this national historic landmark is home to year-round events, including Christmas at Old Fort Concho and Frontier Days.
