The J. Willard Marriott Award of Excellence honors Marriott International's finest associates and is Marriott’s highest form of associate recognition.
 
The Award of Excellence was established in 1987 as a lasting tribute to company founder J. Willard Marriott's ideals of achievement, character, dedication, effort, and perseverance. It is presented each year to a select few who demonstrate these ideals through providing outstanding service, consistently exceeding expectations, leading by example and enhancing the lives of their coworkers, customers and neighbors with their commitment to service excellence.

Alice S. Marriott Award for Community Service
Marriott International's commitment to community involvement began with our founders, J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott, who were generous benefactors of the community, both financially and through personal effort. Over the years they provided leadership for a variety of important civic endeavors, while encouraging the company and its associates to be active, contributing members of the community.
 
The Alice S. Marriott Award for Community Service was created in 1992 to honor the legacy of Alice S. Marriott and her dedication to community service.
 
Each year, the award recognizes a Marriott business unit and its team of associates in recognition of excellence in corporate citizenship. This prestigious award recognizes the desire of our company and associates to carry on the commitment of our founders by giving their energy, time and resources to help improve the lives of others.
 
Each honored business unit best exemplifies Mrs. Marriott’s simple philosophy: “By generously giving our time, energy, and resources, we enrich the lives of others.”

J.W. Marriott Diversity Excellence Award
Marriott International has a long-standing tradition of valuing diversity and inclusion of all associates since its founding in 1927. Through the years, this legacy has become a fundamental operating principle and business imperative.
 
The J.W. Marriott, Jr. Award for Diversity Excellence was established in 2005 to honor Mr. Marriott’s commitment to diversity in all aspects of the company - from our global workforce, to our owners, franchisees, customers, suppliers and communities.
 
Each year, the award recognizes a Marriott business unit and its team of associates which demonstrates excellence in promoting diversity and building an environment of inclusion for all. It is the highest form of recognition for a unit or corporate department's diversity efforts.
