Marcie Koppers and Dustin Myers-Elder knew right away they had a lot in common. And when they discovered both worked in the restaurant business, they knew it was the perfect match. So when it came time to propose, just 11 months after their first date, Dustin knew exactly where to pop the question. “I knew something was about to happen when he started to climb the ladder of the two-story bar in his restaurant. I never cried in front of him before, but this time, I couldn't hold back the tears,” recalled Marcie.

As a banquet manager for a local restaurant, Marcie knew how important ambience would be for any special occasion, especially her own. After visiting the Marriott with her parents, she knew it was the only place to have her reception. “The arrangement we saw was beautiful and offered us that picture of what we wanted for our special evening,” added Bob Koppers, father of the bride.
On a Saturday afternoon, in front of 200 guests, Marcie and Dustin exchanged vows at their family church. As the couple posed for photographs, guests made their way to the reception and waited for the newlyweds to arrive. In the ballroom, multicolored rose petals delicately framed the room while candles adorned the tables. To share in their love of great company and fine wine, Marcie and Dustin chose a dramatic ice carving designed as a wine rack with their names carved into a heart at the top.

For dinner, the couple chose filet of beef with garlic butter and chicken breast with cranberries accompanied by salad tossed with champagne vinaigrette, asparagus and zucchini medley, and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. With dessert, they offered a gourmet coffee service with chocolate shavings, whipped cream, and cinnamon sticks. Before taking the first bite of their wedding cake, Marcie shared her heartwarming story about the antique candelabras on each side of the cake table. “They were at every family wedding for generations. I was so touched and honored to be able to continue my family tradition,” Marcie explained.

For their special day, Marcie and Dustin wanted to remember and enjoy each moment. So, they made sure to savor everything - from the champagne toasts to the mingling with family and friends. “Our guests continued to compliment us. They would tell us how it was the nicest reception that they had been to in years. We could not have had a more perfect evening. The whole event was literally flawless,” recalled Marcie.

The couple's fairy tale continued as they discovered rose petals scattered throughout their honeymoon suite, along with a gift basket and note from the Marriott staff. What a wonderful ending to a perfect day, they thought, as they enjoyed a bottle of their favorite champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries as husband and wife.
