The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) equals the combined force of 185 National Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies with their 97 million members and volunteers, and 300,000 employees assisting over 230 million people each year. The Red Cross/Red Crescent works with the most vulnerable, saving lives, building community resilience against disasters and epidemics, and alleviating the effects of hunger, disease and population movements.
During the last decade, almost two billion people have been affected by disasters. Each year, the IFRC responds to hundreds of disasters and provides funding in response to emergencies.
