General Membership

-
Members may not earn both points and miles for the same stay. You may switch from earning points to miles, and vice versa, before a given stay by updating your membership profile or by contacting your local Guest Services office. You will begin earning the new "currency" (points or miles) with your next stay. Previous earnings will not be converted to the new currency. If you wish to "convert" points into miles, redeem your points for a mileage reward.
-
A "hotel stay" or "stay" means all consecutive nights a Marriott Rewards member registers and personally pays and stays at any participating hotel, and the room is billed to the member.

Point Earning
|
 |
- A member is eligible to receive points for staying at participating Marriott Rewards hotels for his/her guestroom and up to two additional rooms. All rooms must be reserved and registered in the member's name and the member must make arrangements for payment of all rooms on a consolidated bill, which should be requested at time of hotel check-in. To ensure points are automatically posted to member's account, the member should present his/her Marriott Rewards membership card at check-in.
- Charges which do not qualify for points include taxes applied to the room rate, paid outs, purchase of Marriott gift certificates, charges for Marriott contracting services, and catering or banquet functions charged to the guest room account.
- Points will not be given, nor rewards honored, at any subsidiary or affiliate of Marriott International, Inc. other than Participating Hotels, unless otherwise advertised. If a hotel ceases to be a Participating Hotel, all stays subsequent to such date will not be eligible to earn Marriott Rewards points regardless of when the reservation was made.
- Points will not be earned for a Marriott stay made prior to the date the member's application was processed as shown in our records. No retroactive credit will be given.
- Points earned while staying at any participating hotel located outside the United States will be based on the U.S. dollar conversion at time of checkout of all qualifying charges made during the stay.
- No other person except the member may earn points for his/her account. Points for a room shared by two Marriott Rewards members will only be awarded to one Marriott Rewards member.
- Point accrual is limited to individual travel and the room must be paid for individually by the member. The member must have an individual room bill that is paid at checkout or direct billed to the party responsible for paying the bill. If the room is master billed, the charges are not eligible for Marriott Rewards points.
If the member attends a convention or group meeting and individually pays Marriott directly for the room, he/she will be eligible to receive points for the stay. However, contract rooms, rooms reserved by corporations on an ongoing basis, master-billed rooms and rooms booked at the Marriott associate rate are not eligible to earn points. Points earned from room contracts or military rates at certain overseas locations are subject to local restrictions and may be ineligible for credit.
- Prepaid wholesale rates booked through 3rd party online retailers are not eligible for points, miles or Elite night credit, including, but not limited to, Priceline.com, Hotwire.com, Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, Travelocity.com, Hotels.com, etc. Wholesale packages and series tours are not eligible for points.
- When a Marriott Rewards member chooses to earn points through the sales office for a group, he/she forfeits the option of earning points for his/her personal room.
- For all "stay" related promotions a "hotel stay" or "stay" means all consecutive nights spent with Marriott by a Marriott Rewards member.

Transferring Points from One Account to Another
|
 |
- This member benefit is only available at time of reward redemption (only one reward request per redemption, please).
- Immediately prior to redemption, a member may authorize the transfer of the necessary number of Marriott Rewards points into the Marriott Rewards account of his/her spouse or domestic partner, in order to qualify for a specific reward.
- Only the necessary number of Marriott Rewards points needed to redeem the specified reward, rounded to the nearest 1,000 points, may be transferred — no more, no less.
- An Authorization to Transfer Points form must be completed and submitted to Marriott Guest Services in order to transfer the required number of points. Forms are available by calling Marriott Guest Services. A request for reward redemption from the transferee's spouse or domestic partner must be submitted to the Guest Services Center with the Authorization to Transfer Points form.
- Once the authorization for transfer is received and processed, the transferee relinquishes all rights to the transferred points, and they become the spouse's or domestic partner's points.
- For all "stay" related promotions a "hotel stay" or "stay" means all consecutive nights spent with Marriott by a Marriott Rewards member.
