Mai Khao Beach is an important area for leatherback turtles to nest and lay eggs. However, there is a population of injured and disabled turtles that are in need of care.
Leatherback turtles are listed as a vulnerable species globally by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and considered endangered in Thailand. In partnership with the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Rehabilitation & Education Center and Phuket Marine Biology Center, our hotel operates The Turtle Shelter, a facility dedicated to caring for injured and disabled turtles in the area.
