Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, was constructed at a time when the United States had started to emerge as a global superpower. Opened on March 11, 1901, the Honolulu resort— originally the “Moana Hotel”—was built as the first hotel in Waikiki Beach.
