Waste & Recycling
Water Bottling Plant
As part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and plastic waste, the resort operates an in-house water bottling plant. By producing drinking water on the island, we eliminate approximately 100,000 plastic bottles each year. Using the EcoPure system, seawater is purified, mineral-balanced, and bottled in reusable glass containers as still or sparkling water for guest use.
INVENA Project: Innovative Coastal Protection
The INVENA Project, developed in collaboration with MIT, is a climate adaptation solution designed to protect shorelines while supporting marine ecosystems and local communities. INVENA uses carefully engineered underwater reef structures to naturally guide and disperse wave energy, encouraging sand to settle and beaches to regenerate over time.
Island Plantation & Terrestrial Biodiversity
Protecting the natural balance of the island begins on land. Our plantation program focuses on cultivating native and naturally occurring plant species that thrive in the Maldivian environment, supporting soil stability, shade, and local biodiversity. Across the island, guests will find coconut palms, sea hibiscus, and more that play a vital role in coastal protection and ecosystem health.

HEATING SYSTEM IN THE RESORT
To reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, the resort uses solar heating systems supported by solar panels to supply hot water across guest facilities and colleague accommodations. By harnessing renewable energy from the sun, this system lowers reliance on fossil fuels while supporting a more sustainable and energy-efficient island operation.
Energy Conscious Living
Energy production impacts carbon emissions, but every choice helps. Guests can support conservation by keeping doors and windows closed when air-conditioning is on, setting the temperature to 24°C, and switching off lights when leaving the villa. These simple steps significantly lower energy consumption while maintaining a relaxed and comfortable island experience.
