We recommend flying into Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB), which is 30 kilometers from the hotel, an easy trip by taxi or shuttle.
The extraordinary piece of northeastern Sardinian coastline known as the Costa Smeralda -- or “The Emerald Coast” -- was largely undiscovered until the early 1960s when a committee of investors bought 5,000 acres of this prized stretch of fine white sand beaches and coves of the clearest Mediterranean water.
Costa Smeralda was born in the early sixties, thanks to the revolutionary vision of a committee of investors and architects. The aim was to develop an exclusive destination for the international jetsetters on an untouched piece of land in the North Eastern coast of Sardinia, through a strict masterplan and realizing all the necessary infrastructures (from the airport to the streets, from the drainage system to all facilities, including golf courses, hotels, residences, villas, etc.). The main and core principle was to build everything in full respect of the surrounding beautiful nature, using the finest indigenous materials and on the rich and ancient local heritage. The land itself, with its stunning natural beauty, inspired architects and developers.
Designed in 1963 by the architect Luigi Vietti, who also drew up the plans for Porto Cervo Village, Hotel Pitrizza was conceived to be perfectly blended with nature and camouflaged in it. Located on the Bay of Liscia di Vacca, famous for its natural beauty and crystalline seas, it appears as a pure conversation with nature. The result is a sense of identity in which the land and the sea, the people and atmosphere interact in sync.
Originally constructed in 1963, it blends fluidly into the landscape, as rustic as the savage terrain behind it and as striking as the white sand beaches and translucent aquamarine waters in front.
The word 'Pitrizza' means 'little stone' in the local dialect, which recalls the fine sand of the private beach of the hotel, while the logo potrays a little Sardinian lapwing, a bird that symbolizes prosperity and abundance in the island culture.
Designed in 1963 by the architect Luigi Vietti, who also drew up the plans for Porto Cervo Village, the resort was conceived to be perfectly blended with nature and camouflaged in it. Nature and architecture are forces that live in perfect harmony at Hotel Pitrizza: roofs are covered with authentic grass and here the first infinity pool in the history of hospitality was built, finding placement in a natural pit of solid Sardinian granite.
The clubhouse represents the heart of the hotel with its comfortable lounge areas, wellness and fitness centre, restaurants, piano bar and a spacious terrace where drinks can be tasted while enjoying the most beautiful sunsets.
