Sustainability & Community Engagement at Sheraton San Diego Resort
Sustainability & Community Engagement
At Sheraton San Diego Resort, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and supporting the community in which we are located. Enjoy our waterfront setting on San Diego Bay while knowing your stay is responsibly managed.
Sheraton San Diego Resort became the first U.S. hotel to earn Green Seal Gold Certification in 2010, recognizing rigorous standards for resource conservation, waste reduction, sustainable purchasing, and environmental management. That commitment continues today through ongoing sustainability efforts and was recognized with the San Diego County Lodging Association's 2026 Good Earthkeeping Award.
Two on-site hydrogen fuel cells provide approximately 75% of the resort's electricity, while electric airport shuttles and five on-site EV charging stations support lower-emission transportation. Additional investments help reduce natural gas use and support more responsible operations across the resort.
Thoughtful choices can make a meaningful difference. Across the resort, WaterSense-labeled fixtures help reduce water use, a food dehydrator supports food waste reduction and composting efforts, and paperless resources and environmentally conscious cleaning products help reduce our impact.
In 2026, we welcomed the SUPer Hero Show Down to San Diego Bay, bringing the community together in support of Fisher House Southern California. The event raised funds to help provide a home away from home for military and veteran families while their loved ones receive medical care.
Groups gathering at Sheraton San Diego Resort can make their events more meaningful through opportunities that give back. Select group offers have included a $1 donation per group room night to a charity of the group's choice, helping meetings create an impact that reaches beyond the resort.
In 2026, we proudly supported the Port of San Diego's Big Bay Boom as a Platinum Sponsor, helping bring one of the region's most celebrated waterfront traditions to San Diego Bay and the community we call home.
