Sustainability & Community Engagement at W Singapore - Sentosa Cove

Sustainability & Community Engagement

At W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and supporting the community in which we are located. Enjoy a vibrant resort escape in the heart of Sentosa while knowing your stay is responsibly managed.

Our Focus on Sustainability

From reducing waste, water, and energy use to responsibly sourcing our food & beverage ingredients, our sustainable practices incorporate:

 Solar Panels
Solar Power for a Brighter Tomorrow

As part of our commitment to renewable energy, W Singapore – Sentosa Cove has installed 683 state-of-the-artsolar panels across our resort rooftops. This initiative reduces our reliance on non-renewable energy sources, lowers carbon emissions, and powers our operations with clean energy. The project is expected to generate approximately 500,000kWh of renewable energy annually.

Premier Deluxe Super King Bed Room
Smart and Energy-saving Technology

Our newly transformed guest rooms are designed with smart energy efficiency in mind. Motion sensors, RCU thermostats, and balcony door sensors help reduce energy use without compromising comfort. An AHU Optimizer system also adjusts airflow based on building activity, contributing to a 7.9% energy reduction in 2024. Natural daylight further supports our commitment to sustainable luxury.

BE WTR
Goodbye Plastic, Hello Taste

In collaboration with BE WTR, we have eliminated single-use plastic bottles across all restaurants and banqueting spaces. With in-house bottling of still and sparkling water, every pour supports our commitment to reducing plastic waste without compromising on style or taste. We also use recycled plastic for all beverage and liquid takeaway packaging, further reducing our environmental footprint.

Bathroom
In-Room Water Reimagined

We are elevating the in-room experience with advanced water filtration systems in all guest rooms, offering guests fresh, filtered water straight from the tap, while eliminating over 350,000 plastic bottles annually. This initiative complements our transition to pump-top bath amenities and water-efficient fittings across the property, contributing to a nearly 24% reduction in water consumption in 2024.

Connect Responsibily

An extension of Marriott’s Serve 360, Marriott International program Connect Responsibly embeds sustainability efforts in meetings and events. We are scaling up our efforts to support guests by providing responsible meeting and event solutions while providing the Impact Report & metrics associated with their event, and the opportunity to support carbon offset projects, if desired.

ExteriorSkyline
Earthcheck Silver Certified

We are proud to have achieved EarthCheck Benchmarked Silver status—an internationally recognized certification that tracks our performance in energy, water, waste, and community impact. This milestone reflects our ongoing efforts to reduce our environmental footprint. With real-time data and benchmarking, we are better equipped to implement effective strategies and measure our progress.

Our Focus on Community Engagement

From local sourcing to food waste upcycling, our community engagement efforts include:

Grobrix 01
Sustainable Dining & Local Sourcing

W Singapore - Sentosa Cove has been recognized by the Singapore Food Agency with the Mid-Tier Farm-to-Table Recognition for sourcing over 15% of our eggs and fish locally. In collaboration with Grobrix, we have also introduced a modular edible green wall at the kitchen table. This vertical farm grows fresh herbs on-site, reducing our carbon footprint and ensuring pesticide-free ingredients for our guests.

W Singapore The Kitchen Table Interior Day
Food Waste Upcycling

In partnership with Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC), we contribute our food waste to a sustainable initiative that transforms kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich fertilizer using SDC's advanced food waste digester. This fertilizer is then used to nourish the lush landscapes of Sentosa, closing the loop on food waste and actively supporting a circular economy.

Community Collaboration

W Singapore - Sentosa Cove is a proud member of the Sentosa Carbon Neutral Network (SCNN)-Singapore's first business alliance committed to achieving carbon neutrality. In partnership with Sentosa Development Corporation and industry peers, we are driving collective innovation toward the island's goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.

For those guests looking to support our sustainability & social impact efforts at any time, we encourage our community of Marriott Bonvoy members to consider donating their points to our partners, such as UNICEF, WWF, and more.
