An interior design narrative is inspired by the picturesque natural surroundings of Higashiyama. Soft curvilinear forms and the use of wood on floors and walls, along with carpets inspired by Kyoto's summer dining traditions of kawadoko or “river floor”, create serene spaces that inspire rest and relaxation. All rooms feature the iconic Westin Heavenly® Bed with plush pillow-top construction, signature Westin Lavender Balm and Sleep Well Menu, all thoughtfully crafted to ensure a deeply restorative and refreshing night's sleep.
On the East and Main Wings of the hotel, the original 499 guest rooms have been redesigned into 266 spacious new rooms with the average room size updated from 35 to 50 sqm, centered around suite rooms. An interior design narrative is inspired by the picturesque natural surroundings of Higashiyama.

Spa Kacho
Based on the concept of harmony with Mount Kacho and Lake Biwa Canal, the design of Spa KACHO was inspired by the brick and moss-covered Suirokaku aqueduct, built on the grounds of nearby Nanzenji Temple in 1889. The Kyoto Keage Onsen – effective in relieving fatigue and sensitivity to cold – is fed by natural volcanic spring water that bubbles up from deep underground, directly beneath the spa. Semi open-air bath that blends in breath-taking views of the hotel’s garden leading to Mt. Kacho creates a relaxing space with the comfort of enriching nature. Deeply relaxing and invigorating, Spa KACHO is one of the largest facilities of its kind in Kyoto and the hot spring facilities for both men and women include semi open-air onsen baths, indoor baths, jacuzzi and saunas.
Architecture
The jewel in the crown at The Westin Miyako Kyoto is its Kasui-en annex. The hotel’s outstanding annex, hailed as a masterpiece of modernist Japanese architecture, was designed by celebrated architect Togo Murano in 1959.
