Architecture

Guests of Solaz Resort will at once notice the striking architecture, which seamlessly blends the destination’s unique landscape where the desert meets the sea. An undulating structure, with its endemic landscaping and rooftop gardens, sustainable choice of endangered flora and quiet tree-lined pathways that meander to the sea, mimic the flowing waters and desert dunes. This ambitious project was carried out by the award-winning Sordo Madaleno Architects, a renowned family business founded in 1937.

The Los Cabos resort is designed in contemporary Mexican style, using warm indigenous woods and tones to provide a transformative immersion into the local environment; while a wrapping infinite pool meets the endless stretch of sand.

More than family business, I will rather emphasize that Sordo Madaleno is one of most prestigious and renowned Mexican Architect firms. This awarded firm has designed the most important projects in Mexico.

Gabinete del Barco Exhibit

El Gabinete “Del Barco” is the indigenous gallery featuring regional artifacts and open spaces to walk while enjoying breathtaking natural scenery. Viewed through the eyes of Baja California explorer, Miguel del Barco, themed exhibits display a suspended skeleton of a 13-meter-long grey whale, ancient maps of the Americas based on limited navigation discoveries, 360˚ virtual photography, video interviews with archeologists, replicas of harpoons, knives and other tools from the region.

Cesar Negrete Lopez's Sculptures

The resort likens to a 34-acre museum, with its striking architecture, thoughtfully considered interiors, and its vast private collection of original works by César López Negrete. Found throughout the Los Cabos resort, each piece is a reflection of Negrete’s travels throughout Baja where he studied the land, water, history and imagery for inspiration. Contemporary still-life sculptures can be seen throughout the resort, while other pieces celebrate land and sea through organic forms. Sculptures, paintings, and hand-crafted furnishings provide moments of inspiration, while paintings pay tribute to local flora and fauna.
