A visit to the great state of Oklahoma should start to with an exploration of Oklahoma City, the state capital. OKC is home to the Oklahoma City National Memorial, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Myriad Botanical Gardens, and Oklahoma History Center, just to name a few. Nearby, visitors will also find the Frontier City amusement park with a Western theme.

Other places to visit in Oklahoma include cities like Lawton for access to some of the state’s top attractions, Norman where the University of Oklahoma is located, Shawnee if you are a huge Brad Pitt fan, and Tulsa the second biggest city in the state. Of course, there are many things to do in Oklahoma that are outdoors. Meet exotic animals at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, learn about local heritage at Fort Sill, hike through the Great Salt Plains State Park, and drive along the Talimena Scenic Drive. If you’d like to get on the water, then Lake Eufaula is the perfect place to swim, boat, go fishing, kayak, and canoe. The surrounding area also allows for excellent hikes, picnics, and camping. As for the food, local favorites like fried okra, or catfish and calf fries shouldn't be missed.
