Perched majestically over the sparkling waters of the Andaman Sea, Kayu Puti – the specialty restaurant and crown jewel of The St. Regis Langkawi – stands out like a shining beacon; a mythical siren’s call that entices gourmands to embark on a fantastical culinary sojourn away from the ordinary. A bright, airy and serene dining haven tastefully accentuated with predominantly white and neutral hues, Kayu Puti (meaning white wood in Indonesian) evokes the sensuous luxury of an intimately private beach retreat on water. Conceived by the king of exotic luxury resorts − Bangkok-based, Harvard-educated architect Bill Bensley – Kayu Puti’s pristine whitewashed interior with its encompassing vista of the Andaman Sea is a serene sanctuary cocooned in nature where patrons are lulled into a sense of pure contentment and dreamy revelry amidst an idyllic, refined and romantic backdrop.

By day, the specialty restaurant incorporating both indoor and outdoor dining is awash in natural light that streams in through the many French windows. Come dusk, the cosy sundeck on the eastern front provides a cushioned vantage point to admire a spectacular sunset vista accompanied by a cool tipple or two. The visual feast is augmented by a specially curated antique collection featuring over-a-century-old wooden doors and windows repurposed from the Dutch embassy in Yangon, 60 teak columns inlaid with camel bone from India and a vintage, ornamental open-page Shell survey book on its high ceiling.
