Outstanding weekend at Essex House
Essex House is a fantastic hotel with a great history. Has the feeling of a boutique hotel in a perfect location by the park. Staff and service was perfect.

Great Location and Helpful Staff
Located right off Central Park and easy walking distance to museums, Broadway theaters, the Met, Carnegie Hall, and shopping, the Essex house is perfectly situated for a Manhattan visit.
I don’t appreciate the “new” Destination Fee. Why not just raise the room rate and don’t bother trying to justify it with a meaningless offset.

The best
I have a new favorite hotel in New York. The Essex House has an amazing location but what makes this hotel special is the staff, services, and sleeping accomdations. The staff goes above and beyond in every way. The hotel has everything you could ever need. And, the rooms are comfortable and quiet!

Great hotel!!!!
We had such a great experience at the JW Essex house! We are usually loyal to Marriott but I will say this hotel went above and beyond!! Everyone is so kind and friendly!!! I would especially like to thank Jasmin for her excellent service before and while we were there and also Cameron at concierge was so kind! I usually don’t leave reviews but this hotel deserves a round of applause!! ;) It was my 5 year olds first trip to NYC and one we will always remember partly because of the great service with a smile at the JW Essex House!!!!

Beautiful Property
Enjoyed our stay at The Essex House. The Service was good in some areas, needed improvement in others. Skip Southgate Restaurant. Service was very poor and the food was just good enough.

Great hotel, but may be slipping
This is our favorite hotel in New York and the only one we stay at when visiting. But this time there were a lot of problems. First, the evening food in the Concierge Lounge had definitely gone downhill. Then, the electricity was out for the entire evening. Then, the room temperature was freezing. Then they fixed it and it was sweltering. They finally fixed it, after significant inconvenience. I addressed these problems with the Guest Services Manager, who assured me that the hotel was not slipping and that this was an aberration. I certainly hope so.
