Bette Davis Suite

Eyes. Attitude. Talent. The “Benevolent Volcano” with the ever-present cigarette. These are the lingering images we carry of the incomparable and truly legendary Bette Davis. Dedicated to the First Lady of Film, the Bette Davis Suite honors the iconic actress who spent some of her last days in San Sebastian. In 1989, Davis was invited to receive the Donostia Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Despite her delicate health at the age of 81, she undertook a journey from Los Angeles and stayed for five days in this suite. Here, she and her personal assistant planned every detail of her public appearances at the awards ceremony, press conference, and multiple interviews in which she enjoyed recalling her career.

Adorned with some of the actress’s most iconic photographs, the suite’s corridor leads into a Belle Époque-inspired living room with modern décor. A crystal drop chandelier reflects natural light onto a personal collection of pictures from her stay in San Sebastian. A 55-inch flat screen TV is complemented by a collection of Davis’s films, dozens of international channels, and movies on demand. High Speed Internet Access is complimentary.

Behind double doors, the tranquil bedroom is a personal retreat with river views. In the middle of the room, an ornate quilted headboard frames a king-size Luxury Collection bed, wrapped in crisp cotton linens and topped with a feather-filled duvet and a selection of plump pillows. A 48-inch television provides in-bed entertainment.
