Port Attractions

The Westin Hotel Hamburg is located in the heart of the exciting hustle and bustle of the port. Here you can stroll along the promenade with a view of Germany’s largest seaport, which is in 18th place on the list of the most important international container ports. Several hundred containers are loaded by impressive cranes onto the huge ships and transported to the rest of the world.

Marvel at the eclectic port life from the water and take a look behind the scenes with a harbour cruise. Sail through the many locks and canals, past ship docks and container ships. The talkative skippers will be happy to tell you a tall tale or two. You can also experience history at close quarters in the many anchored museum boats such as the Rickmer Rickmers, the Cap San Diego or the U-434, the largest hunting and espionage submarine in the world (located at the landing bridges in St. Pauli).

Hamburg Cruise Center

The Hamburg Cruise Center is the starting point and destination in the port. Watch majestic luxury liners such as Queen Mary II, Aida or Blackwatch depart for the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Scandinavia or anywhere else overseas.

Landing Bridges

The landing bridges are surely one of Hamburg’s oldest landmarks. Whether it’s a port tour, a ferry to a musical theatre or a crossing to the island of Helgoland with the Halunder Jet catamaran, the landing bridges - swimming jetties in St. Pauli - are one of Hamburg’s best-known attractions and offer an authentic port experience.
