North Island is part of the archipelago of 115 islands that form the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. These tropical islands and their warm azul waters can be found some 1500km (930 miles) off the eastern coast of Africa, just west of Kenya and Zanzibar. North Island itself is just slightly north-west of the Seychelles main island Mahé, nestled between the sixth and tenth degree latitude lines, south of the equator. There are many international airlines that fly to Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) or Aéroport de la Pointe La Rue in French. It is located in Victoria, the capital city. From there, North Island is only 40km (25 miles), a short 15-minute helicopter ride away.
