Our Storied Past

In 1983, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company was founded with the purchase of The Ritz-Carlton, Boston and rights to The Ritz-Carlton name. The legacy of this landmark Boston hotel is attributed to Cesar Ritz, the celebrated “king of hoteliers and hotelier to kings.” His philosophy of service and innovation redefined the luxury hotel experience in Europe through his management of The Ritz Paris and The Carlton in London.
