Our largest event space, an exact location where the Hansom Cabs dropped off passengers to the St. Pancras Station is both unique and memorable. A stunning space which can comfortably seat up to 375 in a theatre set-up with front projection, 280 for a banquet and 575 guests for a standing reception.
When the Midland Grand first opened, billiards was a popular game among the upper classes. The hotel included a room dedicated to it, where gentlemen could challenge each other – perhaps while their partners relaxed in the Ladies’ Smoking Room. On hand was a member of staff whose sole job was to keep score. This venue is ideal for an intimate reception of 35 guests or a seminar of 10.
Alexander Graham Bell’s historic first transmission of clear speech by telephone was made in 1876, just three years after the Midland Grand opened. The Exchange is where the hotel’s telephone auto exchange was installed as soon as the technology gained widespread use. This meeting space is well-suited for small board meetings and banquets of 30.
In Victorian times, hotel's finances were looked after by The Cashier's Office. The Cashier's job was to collect money from guests for their lodging accommodation and any other fees they may have incurred during their stay. Whether a presentation for 20 attendees, a banquet for 10 or a standing reception for 35, The Cashier is an ideal venue for your event.
When the Midland Grand Hotel opened in the 1870s, railway stations were overseen by station masters, respected figures who ensured operations ran smoothly and often lived nearby. At St Pancras, the first station master chose an office in the quieter, grander hotel rather than the terminus. This decision later gave the modern hotel one of its most elegant meeting rooms.
The Midland Grand’s dedicated staff ensured impeccable service and many stayed on-site. The Quarters, once divided into four sleeping compartments. Today, it offers an intimate and refined setting for meetings. Soaring beams, striking artwork and tasteful furniture combine to create a space perfect for board meetings and presentations for up to 24 attendees.

Beautifully restored, it features hand-painted ceilings, carved arches, and French doors opening to a private terrace—perfect for weddings and receptions. Adjacent is The Gallery, an elegant room with a fireplace, chandelier, and views of the hotel façade, ideal for up to 120 seated guests or 200 for a standing reception.
