Built among four desert mountain ranges along the San Pedro River, Sierra Vista is a beautiful desert city with plenty to offer. Known as the “Hummingbird Capital of the United States,” numerous species of the birds can be seen during the summer months. And of course, the Huachuca, Dragoon, Whetstone and Mustang mountain ranges are perfect for desert hiking and climbing excursions.
The Huachuca Astronomy Club Observatory provides Sierra Vista hotel guests with the perfect way to experience the brilliant Arizona night sky; serious stargazing enthusiasts might even want to consult the professors at Sierra Vista’s University of Arizona South.
History buffs, or simply those interested in the local heritage, can see the ancient Native American pictographs in the Huachuca Mountains. And kids of all ages will enjoy the desert reptiles and invertebrates on display at the Gray Hawk Nature Center. There are also a wide variety of national stores and specialty boutiques in the area, all convenient to your hotel.
Sierra Vista has plenty of culinary choices as well, like La Casita, a picturesque Mexican diner with locally-famous margaritas. For some more serious nightlife before heading back to your Sierra Vista accommodations, check out Rendezvous Nightclub.
