The hybrid windmill solar power system combines wind and solar energy to power the hotel's exterior sign. This system is connected to a series of batteries and inverters, ensuring a consistent and reliable energy supply. This significantly reduces the hotel's daily electricity consumption and cuts down our carbon emissions by an impressive 12 tons annually, contributing to a greener environment.
Our commitment to sustainability includes proactive energy and water conservation measures. We've upgraded hotel lighting to efficient LEDs, reducing power consumption from 20 watts to 2.7 watts, and saving substantial energy. Additionally, we introduced water-efficient fixtures that cut water usage by 26%. These efforts highlight our dedication to environmentally responsible operations.
The Combined Heat & Power system allows us to save 30% - 40% in electricity costs and produce heat for hot water. The Demand Control Kitchen Ventilation system for commercial kitchens reduces energy costs by up to 80%. UV Film – reduces the amount of heat and light entering the building by rejecting up to 86% of total solar energy radiation, as a result we have up to 30% savings in energy.
While laundry services are largely outsourced, a small portion is handled in-house using energy-efficient appliances, reducing water consumption by 81%. By using polymer beads called XOrbs to revolutionize the washing process, we are making a significant reduction in water and energy conservation, as well as improved fabric care.
We are proud to partner with WeKnow London to offer guests zero-emission transport options to and from the airport and beyond. The cutting-edge electric vehicles on offer provide guests with luxurious and environmentally friendly transportation. This partnership not only provides a seamless travel experience but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions, promoting a greener future.
At the London Heathrow Marriott, social responsibility is a core part of our identity. We actively participate in various green and community initiatives, including the British Spring Clean, Earth Hour, zero waste projects, and even Plastic Fishing in Canary Wharf. One remarkable example is an ongoing involvement to clear Yeading Brooke in Ruislip Gardens of encroaching vegetation.
We have installed 23 meters to monitor our electrical load (EPT) accurately. By analysing the data collected, we can identify the times of day when our energy use peaks. This detailed monitoring allows us to track high energy consumption periods effectively, enabling us to manage and optimize our energy usage more efficiently.
We provide filtered water in reusable glass bottles to all guests, helping reduce plastic waste and encourage sustainable hydration practices during their stay. Additionally, our guest bathrooms are equipped with flow restrictors and aerators, further minimizing water usage.
In our Executive Rooms, we offer compostable and biodegradable coffee pods, ensuring a minimal environmental impact while enhancing your in-room coffee experience.
All bedrooms feature bulk amenities, eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles. Additionally, we provide only reusable coffee cups, further supporting our commitment to sustainability.
