There are few guarantees in life. But our Best Rate Guarantee is one of the best. It assures that you will always get the best rate available when you book directly with Marriott®.

Here’s how it works:

  1. To be eligible for the program, make a reservation using any direct Marriott reservation channel (Marriott.com, Marriott Bonvoy App, Customer Engagement Centers, or directly with a hotel).

  2. If within 24 hours of your reservation, you find a lower rate for the same hotel, room, same inclusions (e.g., breakfast), reservation dates and cancellation policy on a non-Marriott website or non-Marriott Bonvoy app (“Comparison Rate”) and it is more than 24 hours before the hotel’s standard check-in time, you may submit a Best Rate Guarantee claim.

  3. If we approve your claim, we will match the Comparison Rate AND give you your choice of either an extra 25% discount on the room (20% discount for Design Hotels) OR 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points.
  1. To submit a claim, you must be a Marriott Bonvoy Member, and the relevant reservation must be associated with your Marriott Bonvoy number.
  2. The name and Marriott Bonvoy number on the claim form must match the name and Marriott Bonvoy number on the confirmed Marriott reservation, and only one claim may be submitted per reservation.
  3. To be eligible for the guarantee, when multiple rates for the same hotel, reservation dates, and room type are available through a Marriott channel, you must reserve the lowest publicly available rate for that room type, with same inclusions and cancel policy including the Marriott Bonvoy Member rate.
  4. When submitting the claim, you must choose either the Marriott Bonvoy Points award option or the discount off the lower rate option. This choice may not be modified after the claim has been submitted.
  5. Marriott Bonvoy Points are only awarded to Marriott Bonvoy Members. If chosen, points applicable to the claim will be awarded 7-10 business days after guest checkout on the approved reservation.
  6. All approved claim rewards (either points or discount) will only be available for up to three guest rooms.
  7. Marriott will contact you within 24 hours of receiving your claim. Marriott approval of a claim may be invalidated by any changes, including name changes, made to the reservation after the Marriott approval. Such changes may result in a change in rate, cancellation of the reservation, and/or cancellation of any points or discount award.
  8. Claims made against only a portion of your entire scheduled stay will not be honored. Multiple claims for a stay consisting of two or more nights in the same week at the same Marriott hotel or Marriott hotels in the same geographic location (e.g., city) may be treated as one claim for one stay, even if booked through more than one reservation.
  9. Marriott is not responsible for any fees or other costs incurred due to cancellation of a reservation.
  10. Marriott reserves the right to deny a claim, if it cannot independently verify the availability of a Comparison Rate at the time it processes the claim. Screen images of comparison offer will be used to assist with claim review procedures but will not be accepted as validation of a comparison offer.

Marriott will verify that the Comparison Rate:

  1. Is for the same hotel, same dates, same room, same inclusions (e.g., breakfast) and has same cancellation policy or refund policy.
  2. Is not inclusive of any taxes, gratuities, or any other fees associated with the room rate.
  3. Is available and accessible to book at time of verification on both the Comparison site and Marriott.com.
  4. Is publicly available.
  5. Is more than 1% lower than Marriott direct channel. If a currency exchange is required, the difference must be at least 2% or more. Marriott reserves the right to not honor rate disparities primarily attributable to fluctuations and/or differences in currency exchange rates.

The program only applies to rates found on Comparison Sites which meet the above criteria.

Examples of Comparison Rates that do not qualify:

  1. Marriott channel rates found during later searches on Marriott channels (including Marriott-affiliated, private label, or property standalone websites)
  2. Rates that are not publicly available (such as negotiated corporate rates, senior or group rates or rates available through paid memberships, e.g., AAA).
  3. Rates that require specific residency, specific government issued IDs, or specific credit cards from a specific country or locality to view or book.
  4. Rates that have different rules such as cancellation or refund policies, or rates that include differing guaranteed custom room options.
  5. Rates that have coupons, vouchers, “cashback” or promo codes applied by the Comparison Site.
  6. Rates for claims against government funded tourism stimulus promotions.
  7. Rates on auction websites, on sites that do not disclose the hotel brand until the reservation is completed (i.e., Priceline and Hotwire).
  8. Package rates that include a combination of a room and other components such as airfare, cruise, car rental, entertainment, and non-breakfast meals
  9. Rates on sites that do not provide an immediate confirmation (e.g., an “on request” rate)
  10. Rates on sites that do not pass reservations to the Marriott Central Reservation System (CRS) for confirmation.
  11. Rates that are part of Marriott’s proprietary travel agency programs: Stars and Luminous.
  12. Rates that are negotiated for extended stays.
  13. Rates for Design Hotels Partner Hotels, rates found on the Design Hotels™ website, Design Hotels™ Mobile App and any individual Design Hotels standalone website & Mobile App.
  14. Pre-paid, advance purchase, or non-refundable rates on Qunar, eLong, Meituan Travel, Ctrip/Trip.com, Ctrip/Trip.com affiliate sites, WeChat or Fliggy are not eligible.

Best Rate Guarantee applies to Marriott branded hotels unless otherwise specified below.

The Best Rate Guarantee does not apply to:

  1. Employees of Marriott, of its affiliates and subsidiaries, and any Marriott brand hotel, and members of such employees’ families residing at the same location are not eligible.
  2. Marriott may deny claims if it believes this guarantee is being intentionally abused or manipulated to circumvent its intent.
  3. Marriott reserves the right to deny claims caused by erroneous rate displays including but not limited to inputting errors and technology delays.
  4. Void where prohibited by law. Marriott reserves the right to modify or cancel the guarantee at any time without prior notice. Marriott reserves the right to cancel any previously approved claim if it finds that the guest violated or circumvented these terms and conditions and to cancel and reject any other and future Best Rate Guarantee claims from any such guest. In such event, the guest will remain bound to the terms of any bookings made on any channels, including cancellation terms.
  5. Marriott.com Terms of Use apply to the Best Rate Guarantee.

Member Rates

Members of Marriott Bonvoy will receive an exclusive, preferred rate (“Member Rate”) when they book rooms through any Marriott® direct booking channel, including:

  • Our worldwide reservations centers
  • Official Marriott websites (e.g. Marriott.com, Marriott.com/en-gb, and RitzCarlton.com)
  • The Marriott Bonvoy mobile app
  • MARRIOTT 1-800(627-7468).
  • Member Rates are available globally at all hotels that participate in our loyalty programs, excluding hotels in Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
  • These rates may also be booked through an authorized travel agent or select corporate travel partner (“eligible channels”) at any hotel participating in either loyalty program.

What you need to know about Member Rates:

  • These rates offer a discount of at least two percent on weekdays and up to five percent on weekends
  • The rate is applied to the hotel's lowest applicable available public rates for non-premium rooms
  • The rates must be booked by the Marriott Bonvoy member using the appropriate member rate category
  • Member Rates do not apply to groups of 10 or more rooms
  • The member rate may not be combined with other select promotions, offers or discounts, and is not valid for existing reservations or groups
  • Member Rates do not apply to qualified transient rates such as government, negotiated rates, AAA, and Senior Discount.
