Historical Spaces
Every corner of Hotel Forty Five tells a story of the area’s historical significance with a bit of wit, a dash of class and a pop of color. Through engaging art, architecture and hospitality, guests can navigate through the destination’s illustrious past and learn about historical influences who made a difference in Macon. Key architectural elements, furnishings, and finishes were preserved and incorporated in various spaces of the hotel, including guestrooms and suites, meeting venues, a signature chef-driven restaurant, a sixth-floor rooftop bar and lounge, and an eclectic coffee and wine shop. More than a hotel, Hotel Forty Five offers a cozy space to catch up with friends, make new ones or simply share the latest gossip.
Our Location
Playing the Angles
Hotel Forty Five’s location is rooted deep in Macon’s history dating back to the 1800s. The angled street was a city design ahead of its time that made transportation of cotton barges to and from the Ocmulgee River possible. In 1941, Banker’s Health & Life Insurance Company – founded by Parks Lee Hay, the namesake of Macon’s historic Hay House – was built on the same street. Otherwise known as “Macon’s skyscraper,” the 11-story office tower was said to be the tallest building between New York City and Miami following the Great Depression. The building lived many lives, becoming the Southern Trust Building and most recently the Willie C. Hill Annex, before it was vacated in early 2018.

Situated on the iconic 45-degree angle formed by Cherry and First Streets, and Cotton Avenue, across from the newly designed Rosa Parks Square, the hotel will be the first in Macon’s Historic Central Business District. The angled street was a city design ahead of its time that made transportation of cotton barges to and from the river possible. This emblematic wedge serves as the creative thoughtfulness behind the hotel's name. The hotel’s numerical name is also a nod to Macon’s storied musical past, recorded in countless 45 rpm records. The heart and soul of Macon lies at this intersection, where effortless charm defines the essence of Southern sophistication and hospitality. Hotel Forty Five is the first hotel in Macon’s Historic Central Business District and the city’s first member of Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio.
