Past Meets Present
A Thoroughly Modern Hotel, Steeped in History
The Industrialist Hotel, Pittsburgh, Autograph Collection honors the movers and shakers that built Pittsburgh into a city synonymous with American ingenuity. Opened in 1902, our historic Arrott building has been a trailblazing skyscraper, office building, the symbol of Pittsburgh’s rich history, and now, a remarkable hotel for the modern traveler.
The Historic Arrott Building
Created by the Original Industrialists
Built-in 1902, the 18-story Arrott building played host to James Arrott's booming bathtub company (known today as American Standard), and was once one of the tallest skyscrapers in Pittsburgh. Arrott commissioned the young, tenacious architect Frederick Osterling to design the building, and Osterling sought to create something never seen before, going so far as to defy city officials with his envelope-pushing design.
Bespoke Design
Inspired by Innovation
Today, that spirit of innovation lives on inside The Industrialist Hotel, where historic Beaux Arts elements have been preserved and modern amenities are carefully selected to blend seamlessly into the 120-year-old design. From the original checkerboard floors to detailed crown molding and floor-to-ceiling windows, the building is a monument to the art of craftsmanship.

The city is at your fingertips here: Walk to events at the city's major stadiums and arenas; explore the campuses of nearby Point Park University, Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon; or enjoy a walking tour along historic Fourth Avenue, where architecture dates back to 1836.
