To know the origin of our fresh water, one must first know its source: the misty uplands of Moana Valley. From mountainous rivulets down to midland streams and wetlands, the waters separated into three streams, one of which--Apuakehau--emerged into the ocean at Helumoa, between The Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider, located steps from Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.
Fresh water (Wai) was an essential source of life and a key contributor to the property and culture of the Native Hawaiian people. They took only what was absolutely necessary and were expected to share the wai with others.
Today, fresh water continues to flow directly from our artesian well located in Kaimuki on Oahu's east side. As the practice of sharing wai was the foundation of our Hawaiian ancestors, we welcome you to fill your water bottles and replenish your body and spirit with the extraordinary resource.
