SMU is a private university near the center of Dallas, which is just 15 miles from the hotel, and offers strong academic programs. White Rock Lake, the “jewel in the crown of the Dallas’ park system,” spans more than 1,015 acres and has more than 9 miles of trails around the lake.  The lake is home to wildlife, cyclists, runners, walkers, rowers, fishers, picnickers and other outdoors enthusiasts. State Fair of Texas

The State Fair of Texas is an annual state fair held in Dallas, Texas at historic Fair Park. Traditionally, the centerpiece of the fair has been the annual college football game between Oklahoma and Texas and it is the only fair in the country to include a full blown auto show.
