    History

    Discover the History of St Pierre

    The St. Pierre estate takes its name from the head of the de St. Pierre family, who was granted the estate for his unwavering loyalty in the Battle of Hastings. King Henry V also played a role in the history, as he deposited the Crown Jewels with Sir David de St. Pierre as security for a loan to continue the war with France. In the late 15th century, the Lewis family became the new owners of the estate and completed the construction of the present mansion and tower. The Lewis family resided in the grand house until 1839, when it was eventually taken over during World War II to shelter children from the effects of the Blitz. This marked the end of the family life in the estate's great house. Over time, the estate was sold multiple times until it was acquired by Marriott International in 1996. Today, the estate blends historical significance with modern amenities, promising an unforgettable experience.
