The Black House contains an impressive collection of an entire elephant skeleton, snake skin table runner, and thousands of animal remains.

Located 1,200 meters above sea level, with over 600 rai spanning three districts, Choui Fong Tea Plantation offers splendid green scenery of in Northern Thailand. Its fields are planted on flowing hillsides. Since it is a working attraction, you are able to walk along the tiered rows of tea trees and observe how the plantation works at close hand. Choui Fong Tea Plantation grows distinctive types of tea, assum, green, oolong, and black tea.

Blue: Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park

Here you will find the Northern region's largest collection of art items from Lanna culture and heritage enshrined including the adjoining museums.

Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park is under the patronage of HRH the Princess Mother. It was originally the training centre for Hill Tribe Youth Leadership for hill tribes from northern Thailand region. This beautiful tropical park was jeweled with Haw Kaam (Golden Pavilion), the precious Lanna architecture built as a gift presented to celebrate HRH the Princess Mother’s 84th birthday anniversary in year 1984. Here you will find the Northern region’s largest collection of art items from Lanna culture and heritage enshrined including the adjoining museums.

Doi Tung Development Project

A highlight to any trip to Chiang Rai is a visit to the Doi Tung Development Project. Started as a royal initiative to help eradicate opium supply, drug use, and rural poverty, the project offers villagers with a practical and sustainable alternative. The project focuses on development, education, training, humanitarian activities, environmental conservation, agriculture, and the production of quality crafts. At the summit of Doi Tung, visitors can visit Phra That Doi Tung, a chedi constructed in 911 A.D and one of the oldest and most sacred sites in northern Thailand. The chedi is said to contain the collarbone of Buddha.

This museum houses a collection of objects from the ancient Lanna kingdom, Myanmar, southwest China, and Vietnam. Mae Sai

Mae Sai is 62 km north of Chiang Rai and makes for an interesting day trip. This busy trading post borders Myanmar, and it is possible to cross the bridge to visit the bustling market in Tha Khi Lek.
