Sakurajima

Sakurajima is an active volcano, located in Kagoshima Bay. The iconic vilcano is a symbol of Kagoshima and offers scenic views and hot springs. It is a beautiful uninhabited island floating in Kagoshima Bay. At low tide during spring or neap tides from March to October, a sand road about 800 meters long appears, allowing you to walk across to Chirin Island.

Sakurajima Art Fireworks 2026

Set against the stunning backdrop of Sakurajima, the fifth anniversary of the Artistic Fireworks festival—first launched in 2022 as a cherished spring tradition in Kagoshima—will be held on April 25 at the spectacular venue “Marine Port Kagoshima.” This special fireworks show features a full 60 minutes of nonstop performances, synchronized precisely with the rhythm and mood of the music, with fireworks launching from both land and water. Enjoy the thrilling and creative display that unfolds across the night sky!

Hamada Syuzou Satsuma Kinzangura

Satsuma Kinzangura, operated by Hamada Syuzou, is a distillery that produces and sells shochu made from sweet potatoes, a specialty of Kagoshima. Located on the site of a former gold mine with a history of about 370 years, it is the only distillery where shochu made with their original “Ogon Koji” is aged and stored inside a tunnel. Visitors can enjoy a unique distillery tour that includes a trolley ride and shochu tasting.

Tosenkyo Somennagashi

Tosenkyo attracts approximately 200,000 visitors annually. Even in the peak of summer, guests can enjoy chilled somen noodles cooled by spring water, which has been selected as one of the Heisei era’s Top 100 Famous Waters.
