Sakurajima

Sakurajima is an active volcano, located in Kagoshima Bay. The iconic vilcano is a symbol of Kagoshima and offers scenic views and hot springs. Yurigahama is a pure white beach that appears about 1.5km off the coast of Ohganeku Island. Visible only for a limited time depending on the tides, it is known as the “phantom sand beach."

Ogawa Falls

This waterfall is located upstream of the Ogawa River, which flows through the center of Nejime in Minamiōsumi Town. The 1.2‑km one‑way walking trail to the base of the falls features gentle ups and downs, allowing visitors to enjoy a pleasant stroll accompanied by the sound of the clear stream and birdsong. At the end of the path, a dramatic cliff—46 meters high and 60 meters wide—comes into view, along with a powerful waterfall whose increased volume of water is truly breathtaking. Surrounded by an abundance of negative ions, visitors can fully relax and feel refreshed by nature.

Hamada Syuzou Satsuma Kinzangura

Satsuma Kinzangura, operated by Hamada Syuzou, is a distillery that produces and sells shochu made from sweet potatoes, a specialty of Kagoshima. Located on the site of a former gold mine with a history of about 370 years, it is the only distillery where shochu made with their original “Ogon Koji” is aged and stored inside a tunnel. Visitors can enjoy a unique distillery tour that includes a trolley ride and shochu tasting.

Tosenkyo Somennagashi
