The History of the Site: from the Royal Brewery to the Sheraton Grand Krakow

This riverside site has continually evolved with Kraków’s history. First home to the Royal Brewery in the 18th century, its position along the Vistula River provided ideal access to water and trade routes. In the 19th century, it was transformed into military barracks and later continued to serve various military and administrative functions. Following decades of changing uses and a period of decline, the historic complex was redeveloped into the Sheraton in 2002. Today, the hotel’s contemporary architecture incorporates a historic flood gauge, a subtle reminder of the site’s enduring connection to the river and its rich heritage.
