Welcome to Yoruya, a Member of Design Hotels™

Traditional, tranquil, and authentic Japan.

Set among the willow-lined canals and historic streets of the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Yoruya is a 13-room property occupying a restored machiya, or traditional Japanese townhouse. Originally built over 110 years ago as a shopfront and residence for a Meiji-era kimono merchant, the hotel preserves key design details, like the original wooden beams and restored, tatami flooring, and sliding paper doors (shoji), allowing guests to step back in time and experience a more traditional and tranquil side of Japan. A standout feature is the semi-open-air baths in select guest rooms, offering a place to unwind after a day of exploring the historic district. Guests can enjoy a relaxing soak while overlooking a private courtyard garden, ride a river boat through charming canals, and enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine in a delightful multi-course menu at the hotel’s intimate restaurant.
