Pedal through Pismo’s bike friendly town, along the scenic coast or directly on the sand on our wide golden beaches. There are plenty of nearby shops to rent beach cruisers, eBikes, mountain bikes and single, double and even triple Surrey bikes for the whole family. Exciting destinations like the Pismo Preserve, the Monarch Butterfly Grove, Spyglass Park and the Dinosaur Caves are all an easy cycle away from the resort. And while cruising the Central Coast’s uncrowded coastal routes you’ll discover beautiful bluffs, empty beaches and incredible wildlife.

Discover Our Wine Country Wonderland

The Central Coast has blossomed as a respected wine country with more than 250 vineyards helmed by unpretentious winemakers, who produce some remarkable wines from aromatic whites to big Bordeaux-style reds. Three winemaking regions lie within 30 minutes of Vespera Resort: historic Edna Valley, bountiful and lush Arroyo Grande Valley and charming Avila Valley. To the northeast, Paso Robles is another exciting wine Mecca to explore. Take a little road trip and discover the many friendly, family-owned vineyards that line the scenic country lanes or order up a bottle at the Somerset Grill to taste the terroir of our local wine country.

Pismo Preserve, A Wilderness Sanctuary

Located just off California’s scenic Highway 101, this 880-acre preserve is a hiking, biking, and horseback riding wonderland. More than 10 miles of trails and ranch roads meander through the serene landscape, traversing oak-filled woodlands and coastal ridgelines with endless breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and coast. Open from dawn to dusk. Dogs on leash are welcome too.

Explore the Oceano Dunes

Thrill seekers should head to the Oceano Dunes Preserve, a 3500-acre, coastal dune playground for ATV adventures like no other. It’s the only California State Park that allows vehicles to drive on the beach. Off-road enthusiasts can navigate the maze of dunes, crest to the top of these massive mounds and enjoy spectacular ocean views. And if you want to skip the driving, opt for a heart-thumping Hummer Tour.

Visit the Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove

Witness one of the great migrations of nature as fluttering orange and black Monarch Butterflies descend upon Pismo State Beach from late October to early February. As part of their winter escape and epic journey, thousands of Western Monarchs travel south from Canada and cluster in California’s eucalyptus trees, causing a shimmering of gold. Great surf awaits right out your door as the southside of the Pismo Beach Pier is a Central Coast surfer’s hub, known for its shapely consistent waves, gentle beach slope and epic rights. The classic Pismo Beach Surf Shop, circa 1962 and adjacent to the resort, will equip you with gear.
