Set within two landmark buildings, including the Art Deco home of the Shanghai Power Company, the hotel carries on the legacy of its architectural past and the vision of designer and hotelier Ian Schrager. Landmark Architecture

Built on History

The hotel’s impactful aesthetic comes from a history of groundbreaking design. Our main building, 201 Nanjing Road East, was built in the late 1980s by celebrated contemporary designers Luo Xinyang and Qin Yong and reflected the emergence of postmodern design at the time. Our heritage building, at 181 Nanjing Road East, was built in 1929.

At Shanghai Tavern, set within the landmark Shanghai Power Company building, original Art Deco details are blended with modern additions. Coffered ceilings are supported by white marble-clad columns and beams, and the centerpiece show kitchen features brass, striped glass and a nine-seat bar. And at YONE Restaurant & Bar, the signature EDITION spiral staircase is decked in bronze and reaches three stories high.
