Peter Kaparos

Director of Banquets

Director of Banquets, Peter Kaparos has been at this property since the hotel was opened in 1987 as the Hotel Nikko. Peter has over 25 years with The Westin Chicago River North, from meetings to weddings. Peter has seen it all and done it all. Peter’s favorite event to host is a wedding, with family, friends, amazing food and plenty of beverages; weddings are a celebration not too soon forgotten by our beloved Director of Banquets. Peter has a refined attention to detail, compared to no other; his team executes events with professionalism and unparalleled service. Peter makes every bride and groom know just how special they are to us while being on hand throughout the entire wedding. Peter is in the National Association of Catering Executives and a member of the Catering Executives Club of America. When Peter is not at the Westin you can find him spending time with his eight grandchildren and enjoying a delicious dinner of lamb. Peter is the one VIP you don’t want to forget to include in your big day!

Chris Rolewicz

Executive Chef

Spending most of his childhood in South Florida, Chef Chris Rolewicz developed an early appreciation for fresh seafood and tropical fruits. Chris was also inspired to become a chef by his family. Some of his earliest memories in the kitchen are helping his grandmother roll out pie dough and homemade dumplings and picking strawberries in her garden. Chris moved to Chicago to attend The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago Le Cordon Bleu. While in Chicago Chris has had the opportunity to work under many talented chefs and restaurants, including Molive Restaurant, We Restaurant, as well as overseeing banquets at The Westin Michigan Avenue. With the desire to see and learn more, Chris took an Executive Sous Chef position at The Westin Bellevue, in the Seattle area, at Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar. This was a creative vessel to do farm to table wine dinners, as well as run seasonal & sustainable menus. During this time, Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar was named “best hotel bar” by Seattle Magazine. Chris’ successes led him to be the Executive Chef at The Westin Chicago River North where he now has the pleasure of leading a very talented and passionate team. Chris’ experiences have helped him hone his leadership skills and he takes great pride in inspiring others to elevate and in turn, they inspire him. Chris’ culinary style is mostly rooted in the Midwest but is also reflective of his experiences across the country with some influences from the Pacific Northwest and South Florida.

Katya Sharma

Catering Sales Manager/Wedding Specialist

Katya started her career with Starwood in 2004 when she joined the Food and Beverage team as Director of Outlets at a Sheraton in Philadelphia. After 3 years in operations she joined the Sales Team as Events and Meetings Manager. Katya has worked with both corporate and social clients and is still actively involved in all the planning as well as the execution of the events. In 2007 – 10 years ago – she became Catering Sales Manager and Wedding Specialist at the same property. In 2013, Katya spent a year at a Westin right outside of Philadelphia as the Wedding Specialist where she hosted classic and elegant Westin Weddings for up to 400 guests. Recently her family relocated to the beautiful city of Chicago where she joined the wonderful team at the Westin Chicago River North as Catering Sales Manager and Wedding Specialist. Katya loves weddings and is always here for her brides and grooms from the time of the initial inquiry to the time they cut the cake the day of the wedding. "Nothing makes me happier than seeing them walk down the aisle or enter the ballroom on their special day. I strive to provide personalized and detailed pre-planning services as well as on-site coordinator services for our guests." More than anyone Katya understands all the planning that goes into making someone’s dream come true. She got married in 2011 and had her dream wedding in New Delhi, India. When Katya is not working, she enjoys being a mom and spending time with her husband, daughter and son.
