One of the world’s most prestigious international architecture exhibitions, the 17th edition "How will we live together" is curated by Hashim Sarkis.
49th International Festival of Theatre | 2 - 11 July

Organised by the Biennale of Venice, the festival features daily events with the most important protagonists of the contemporary theatrical scene. The 49th edition will be directed by Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte.

Festa del Redentore | 17 - 18 July 2021
The most popular event in the Venetian calendar. Instituted in 1576 this characteristic annual festival celebrates the end of a terrible plague. Fireworks illuminate St. Mark’s basin on the Saturday night amongst feasting and revelry.
15th International Festival of Contemporary Dance | 23 July - 1 August 2021
78th Venice International Film Festival | 1 - 11 September 2021

Organised by the Biennale of Venice and the oldest film festival in the world, the festival promotes international cinema in all its forms in a spirit of freedom and dialogue.

Venice Glass Week | 4 - 12 September 2021
An international festival dedicated to the art of glass, involving major institutions and celebrated artists with the aim of sustaining one of the city’s most important artistic activities.
Historical Regatta | 5 September 2021

A spectacular procession of decorated historic craft along the Grand Canal followed by competitive regattas, a trial of strength and skill for the city’s gondoliers and other expert rowers.

International Festival of Contemporary Music | 17-26 September 2021

The 65th International Festival of Contemporary Music will showcase several daily events. Composer Ivan Fedele will direct the Music department.

Venice Design Week | 9 – 17 October 2021

The Venice Design Week celebrates the relationship between design, arts and crafts. Designers from all over the world are invited to take part in exhibitions, special events and competitions around the city.

Power & Prestige. The art of scepters of power in Oceania. | 15 October 2021

The exhibition of Giancarlo Ligabue Foundation at Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti, curated by Professor Steven Hooper and co-promoted with the Museé du quai Branly in Paris, will bring together, for the first time in Italy and Europe, over 150 scepters of power made between the 18th and the 19th century.

8th Venice Hospitality Challenge | 16th October 2021

Officially recognized as the Grand Prix of Venice, this unique and annual event combines the nautical and sporting tradition of the Serenissima with the glamour of Venice. Ten maxi yachts compete in St. Mark’s Basin for the Challenge Trophy.

Venice Marathon | 24 October 2021

One of the most important marathons in the world with a spectacular three kilometer finish in the unique surroundings of the lagoon city.

Festa della Salute | 21 November 2021

A religious feast day instituted in 1630 celebrating the city’s miraculous delivery from the plague. A pontoon bridge is strung across the Grand Canal to the Madonna della Salute Basilica so Venetians may make the pilgrimage to pay homage to the Madonna and to light a candle asking her to keep them in good health.

The ancient celebration of St. Mark, the patron saint of Venice. It is also known as the rosebud festival, because men traditionally offer a rosebud to the women they love.

Festa della Sensa (Ascension Day) | 26 May 2022

A rowing parade of traditional boats followed by evocative and religious ceremonies commemorating the heritage wedding celebration between Venice and the Sea. The historical reenactment is followed by rowing competitions.
