Know Before You Go

Each Outpost is selected for its proximity to outdoor recreation and regional highlights. Activities may include hiking, parks, lakes, fishing, scenic drives, and small-town attractions, all typically a short drive away. Options vary by location and season, and in smaller towns, some activities or businesses may have limited hours or close during off-peak times. The experience is largely self-guided, so we recommend checking availability and planning ahead based on your travel dates.

Most attractions, restaurants, and stores require a drive from the Postcard Cabins Outpost. Distances vary by location, but guests should plan for short drives rather than walkable access to nearby options.

A car is strongly recommended for getting to the Postcard Cabins Outpost, picking up groceries, and exploring nearby activities and attractions. There are no EV charging stations onsite, and power is not available at the cabins for vehicle charging, so a gas-powered vehicle is recommended. Gas stations may not be located close to the Outpost, so we suggest fueling up in advance. Each cabin includes parking for one car, and roads throughout the Outpost are gravel. In winter conditions, guests should be mindful of vehicle type and driving capabilities when planning their stay.

Options vary and may be limited, especially in more remote Postcard Cabins locations. Some areas offer a small selection of local restaurants and grocery stores, but availability and hours can vary. In smaller towns, options may be reduced during off-peak seasons. We recommend planning ahead and confirming hours in advance if you plan to dine out.

Yes. With no on-site dining and limited nearby options, bringing your own groceries is the most reliable way to plan meals. The in-cabin refrigerator has limited capacity and no freezer, so plan accordingly. For additional storage, consider bringing a cooler with ice for extra food and beverages.

Most guests start and end their day at the cabin—cooking, enjoying their outdoor space, or relaxing around the fire pit. During the day, many explore nearby trails, parks, or local towns before returning in the evening. For downtime, guests often bring cards, board games, books, or downloaded movies and music.

Weather can shift quickly in natural settings. Many guests adjust by spending more time at their cabin—cooking, reading, playing games, or relaxing indoors. We recommend bringing board games, books, or downloading movies and music in advance in case connectivity is limited.

Dress for the season and your planned activities. In warmer weather, opt for light, breathable clothing, sunscreen, and bug spray. In cooler months, layers and a warm jacket are recommended, especially for evenings. In snowy conditions, bring a warm coat, hat, mittens or gloves, and insulated footwear. For rainy weather, pack a waterproof layer and sturdy shoes. Comfortable footwear is always a good idea for exploring the outdoors.

We recommend researching nearby attractions in advance, saving directions, and downloading anything you may need—like maps, movies, or music—as cell service may be limited once you arrive. The best time to visit varies by location and the type of experience you’re looking for, from fall foliage and summer hikes to winter snow activities. In smaller towns, seasonal hours, events, and availability can change, so we recommend confirming plans in advance to make the most of your stay.

Each Postcard Cabin includes a private fire pit with a grill grate, allowing guests to enjoy campfires for cooking, shared meals, and evenings spent stargazing. Firewood, starters, and signature Stroopwafel s’mores kits are provided as part of your stay. Outposts offer expansive natural surroundings to explore just steps from your cabin. Seasonal changes bring different experiences, from fall foliage to winter snow. Select Postcard Cabins Outposts offer reservable group gathering spaces. Formal organized events may vary by location and are not guaranteed.
